Sports club "LAZIO" (Societa Podistica Lazio, in 1925 renamed to Societa Sportiva Lazio) was founded on January 9, 1900 in Rome's Prati district, a group of 9 local residents. In the early years the club was cultivated only football, but other sports were considered more for form's sake.
"Lazio" immediately became one of the leaders of FOOTBALL in Rome, winning the small local tournaments and gradually progressing to the national competition. Since 1926, the year the team played in the elite Italian Cup - National Division, and three years later became one of the participants of the first season in Serie A. When in 1927 at the initiative of the fascist party leaders all the Club of Rome began to forcibly merge into one city team "Lazio" managed to defend their right to a separate existence. Much of this happened because of the general police Giorgio Vaccaro, who at the time served as vice-president of the club.
The first season in Serie A newly created special glory "Eagles" have not brought, but they also can not be called a failure. The team year after year finished in mid-table, with a few exceptions. For example, the second in 1937 and fourth in 1940 and 1942.
The year 2000 in general was just fabulous for "LAZIO": In addition to the championship, won the third byankochelesti National Cup and the UEFA Super Cup, winning with a score of 1: 0, "Manchester United". The next year was taken as the second Italian Super Cup - the last trophy Kranotti era. During the reign of the president, "Lazio" has won more trophies than all the rest of his story. In his club worked such trainers as Dino Zoff and Sven-Göran Eriksson. Played players such as: Luca Luca MARCHEGIANI, Alessandro NESTA, Christian VIERI, Juan Sebastian VERON, Alen BOKSIC, Marcelo SALAS, Roberto MANCINI, Diego SIMEONE, Pavel NEDVED, Dejan STANKOVIC, Simone INZAGHI, Fabrizio RAVANELLI, Matias ALMEIDA, Fernando COUTO, Nestor SENSINI, Giuseppe Favalli Giuseppe Pancaro ...
In 2003, the year Kranotti came under investigation on charges of premeditated bankruptcy of its group Cirio (this inscription adorned on T-shirts, "Lazio" in the 90's as the title sponsor), and in 2008 he was sentenced to nine years in prison. "Lazio" in 2003, he moved into the hands of the banking group Capitalia and president Hugo Longo, who almost brought the club into bankruptcy (the command thus managed to win the Coppa Italia, 2004).
In July 2004, the club acquired a Roman businessman Claudio LOTITO, who gradually established the financial position and results of sports. In 2006, the year of "Lazio" has risen to Euro Cup 6 th place, but was stripped of the 30 points of the case Calciopoli and ended up on the 16th row. A year later, despite the minus 3 at the start of the season, the club occupies the final third and the following year played in the Champions League (the last place in the group with the "Real", "Olympiakos" and "Bremen"). In 2009 and 2010, respectively club produces Cup and Italian Super Cup, which are the first trophies era Lotito.
In the 2012-2013 season, "Lazio" some time was in second place, but could not resist the fight on three fronts (plus Europa League, which reached the quarterfinals of the Italian Cup and where was produced the sixth trophy) and finished in 7th place. In subsequent years, the team teetered on the brink of European club zone, except for the 2014-2015 season, when sensationally finished in third place. However, to qualify for the Champions League failed (German "Bayer" has not started) and "Lazio" very quickly returned to its usual level.
